I Don’t Want Equality

Yes that’s right. I don’t want equality. I want superiority.

Equality is for average people and average to me is synonymous with mediocre. As the cliche goes “Who the fuck wants to be average?”

And this is my personal problem with the modern liberal notion of “equality”.

Equality is a step up for losers, but a step down for winners.

I understand the want to put everyone on the same level out of some need for fairness, be it social or economic. The problem is not everyone should be on the same level. If I’m better at something than someone or have more talent or work harder, why would I want to be brought down to their level? The reason I work in sales (other than the income potential relative to other careers) is because I value meritocracy. If I wanted to be paid the same thing as everyone else just for showing up to work, I would simply work a government job.

I’m sure equality sounds good to someone making minimum wage, mired in debt, facing serious challenges or doesn’t have much in life. I can commiserate because I was there not too long ago. But I choose to see the world for how it really is, and not how I wish it to be. We don’t live in a communist/socialist utopia. We live on a finite planet, with finite resources, and fierce competition. None of us chose to be put into this environment but we all have to find a way to survive in it. I don’t identify with those who simply want to survive. I want to thrive.

If I’m thrown into the jungle I want to be a lion not a zebra.
